Abstract
The basic role of the upper arm, elbow and wrist is to place the hand in the appropriate position, so that it can fulfill its function. The elbow and wrist have a very complex anatomy with a large number of bones, muscles, tendons and nerves. They are essential for work and sporting activities, and are subject to acute and/or chronic mechanical injuries. This is why overuse injuries are the most common in these regions. This paper gives an overview of the most common overuse syndromes of the elbow, forearm, wrist and hand describing their characteristic symptoms, methods of diagnosis and rehabilitative management. These syndromes include lateral and medial epicondylitis of elbow, triceps tendinosis, olecranon bursitis, ulnar collateral ligament injury, DeQuervain¡¯s disease and other wrist disease.
